About Us

Our History

First Presbyterian Church has its roots in the Presbyterian Churches of Arlington, Lowville, and Dekorra.  In 1864, Pastor James Lowrie served as minister to the churches in Lowville and Arlington.  He held an occasional service in Poynette, which by 1866 grew into a regular appointment.  The First Presbyterian Church of Poynette was officially organized on April 24, 1867.  In 2017, the church will celebrate her sesquicentennial.

Our Ethos

"Love Grows Here" expresses the ethos of First Presbyterian Church:

Take a look around you,

tell me what you see,

people here to worship the Lord,

just like you and me.

Some have come in gladness,

some have come in fear,

but all have come because they know

that love grows here.
